Course Overview
OSD’s Actors Development courses, Craft Boost, offer a series of 1-day short courses tailored for actors looking to refresh and stretch their skills in various aspects of acting.
These sessions allow you to re-engage with your training and recharge your craft and skills. Each course offers different aspects of the craft and aims to replenish your actor’s toolkit.
The courses are based in-person at OSD and benefit from our unique setting, surrounded by fields that offer spectacular views and a relaxed environment to focus on the work. While parking is available on site, the school is only 1 hour by train from London Marylebone to Oxford Parkway.

Casting Craft Boost
This one-day course will cover the casting process and is aimed at helping you refresh and stretch your casting muscles. You will cover:
- The casting process from breakdown to securing the role.
- How to deliver professional self-tapes.
- How to feel more confident in an interview scenario.
- How to be confident in delivering strong and engaging performances under pressure.
This course will be limited to a maximum of 14 participants, ensuring 1-2-1 attention and a more bespoke learning environment.
Casting Craft Boost is aimed at Actors looking to improve their skills, gain confidence in the casting process, and learn with fellow professional actors in a beautiful setting.
All professionals are welcome, from those who have newly graduated to those who are looking to refresh their practice after a long career.
The course will be led by Edward Hicks, Principal of OSD.
He began his career as an actor, appearing in the West End, for the RSC and in numerous film and television roles before moving behind the camera. As Director, his films have been selected for film festivals including BAFTA, Cannes, Munich, ASFF and broadcast on Amazon Prime.
His teaching career spans two decades, including eleven years at RADA where he created a new department and screen acting curriculum as Head of Film, TV & Radio. He joined OSD as Principal and Head of Screen in 2019.

As you might expect, the work will be practical, so wear clothes you’re comfortable in.
If you’re new to OSD, please note the School’s remote location. There are no shops within walking distance, so we strongly recommend you bring a packed lunch with you! There are tea and coffee-making facilities on site, as well as microwaves.

Movement Craft Boost
Students become more aware of their bodies in space. Develop an instinctive response to collaborating physically within an ensemble. Develop strength, dynamic and flexibility in the body. The ability to ‘Listen and Respond’ instinctively. You will:
- Become more self-aware of your body in space.
- Build embodied movement and expression, with the awareness of collaborating physically within an ensemble.
- Discover a detailed understanding of forms and methodology of Movement and how to apply them in tasks and explorations.
Movement Craft Boost is aimed at Actors looking to return to their bodies and refresh the fundamentals of movement in ensemble work.
All professionals are welcome, from newly graduated to those looking to refresh their practice after a long career.
The course will be led by Samuel Adebayo, movement tutor on the Three Year and Foundation Courses.
Samuel trained at LAMDA. His ethos is that there is a connection between mind, body and spirit and in order to get the full experience of our existence as well as the artistry, we have to do the work of connecting all three elements. Samuel feels his work is to enable people to embody this experience of freedom through movement.
