Saorla grew up in County Limerick, Ireland. Growing up, she joined the local stage school and youth theatre; this decision inspired her to pursue a career in acting. She received a BA in Irish and Drama at the University of Galway, and was heavily involved in the drama and musical societies. While at UG, she won the award Best Lighting Design for her work on The Wonderful World of Dissocia at the Irish Student Drama Awards. After graduation, she trained at the Bowstreet Screen Acting Academy in Dublin to develop her screen acting skills, and joined the NYT. Previous productions include performing in Smock Alley Theatre’s Scene and Heard Festival, Púca Productions’ Rocky Horror Cabaret and Galway Theatre Festivals Work in Progress Shakes. Recently, she won Best Actress in the short film Stitch by Stitch, which premiered at Galway Little Cinema as part of the inaugural 48 Hour Short Film Challenge. These opportunities only galvanised her desire to develop her craft further, leading her to OSD. In her spare time Saorla loves to write, speak Irish, and sing musical theatre.
