Vacancies at The Oxford School of Drama

The Oxford School of Drama is looking for up to 3 new trustees to join us in shaping the future of our world-leading conservatoire.

Who we are looking for

If you are committed to helping students to meet their full potential, and providing them with the best opportunities to find work in theatre, film and television, we would like to hear from you.

We welcome applications from anyone who believes they can make a strong contribution to the continued growth and development of the School including those with skills in and experience of any of the following areas – Estates Development, Capital Projects including fundraising, People Development and Legal matters in the Charity Sector.

We are keen to receive applications from younger people aged under 40, and from those with a wide range of life experiences.

Who we are

The school provides accredited, professional actor training in the form of a Three Year and One Year Course in addition to six month Foundation Courses in Acting and Acting with Musical Theatre. The Three Year and One Year courses are currently Higher Education Diplomas accredited by Trinity College, London and we are exploring new academic partners for the future. We are recognised by the industry around the world for the quality of our training and we boast successful alumni including writers, directors, filmmakers and actors.

The school is located in a farm conversion complete with studios and theatre in the Oxfordshire countryside. Our environment reflects the supportive and nurturing ethos of the school, where we offer bespoke, rigorous, conservatoire training.  As one of the smallest drama schools we are able to support our students’ individual needs.

Why now

The School continues to evolve and adapt to a fast changing economic, social and cultural environment. This is an exciting time of development at the School with a refreshed curriculum and the potential for growth and development with new academic partners on the horizon.

We ask that you dedicate the time and effort required to fully participate as a Trustee.  This includes meeting four times a year either in Oxford, London, or virtually, as well as participating in working groups and watching School activities.

What’s in it for you

This is an opportunity to see behind the scenes of one of the finest drama schools in the UK, and to shape its future.   You’ll be sharing your expertise with, and learning from fellow Trustees, working with our exceptionally talented staff and tutors and, most importantly, contributing to our students’ futures.

How to apply

We will provide full support and training for new Trustees and welcome interest from people with little or no experience as a Trustee.  For further information and to download the Trustee role descriptions please visit the jobs page on our website. To apply please send your CV with a short summary of experience and a paragraph describing why you believe you could make a contribution to the future of the School, to our Executive Director, Liz Wilson: l.wilson@oxforddrama.ac.uk  You are also welcome to call Liz, or our Principal Ed Hicks, for an informal conversation, on 01993 812883.

The deadline for applications is Thursday 13 November 2025, and meetings with prospective Trustees will take place online in w/c 24 November 2025.
