Sandro Rosta, a 2024 Graduate of the Three Year Course, is joining the Star Trek family. Sandro joins the cast of Star Trek: Starfleet Academy, a new addition to the Trek Universe set to premier on Paramount+. Sandro has been cast as one of the young Cadets who “come together to pursue a common dream of hope and optimism…as they navigate blossoming friendships, explosive rivalries, first loves and a new enemy that threatens both the Academy and the Federation itself.”

Alongside Sandro, the show will also star Oscar-winner Holly Hunter as the academy’s captain and chancellor and Oscar Nominee Paul Giamatti as the central villain. The show begins filming this summer in Toronto.

Star Trek is an incredible world to be joining, with the likes of Whoopi Goldberg, Patrick Stewart, William Shatner, Christopher Plummer, George Takei, Simon Pegg, Chris Pine, Idris Elba and Tom Hardy all famously appearing in various iterations of the Star Trek universe.

Sandro graduated this summer from the Three Year Course, having previously completed the Foundation Course in Acting. Over his four years at the school, Sandro appeared in many productions, from Romeo and Juliet to Love and Information by Caryl Churchill. Most recently, Sandro appeared in The Watsons, directed by Max Key, at the Jermyn Street Theatre as part of OSD’s annual London Season.

Before he could enter rehearsals for the new writing commission Rock DJ and Three Other Songs That Saved the World, Sandro received the fantastic news that he had booked his first professional role. He appeared in The Harmony Test alongside Jemima Roper at The Hampstead Theatre in May of this year. Entering the industry before graduating was a fantastic achievement, but we knew bigger things were coming for Sandro.

The news of his casting in Star Trek: Starfleet Academy has filled us all here at OSD with pride and excitement for Sandro. We know he will be the best addition to the new show’s impressive cast, and we can’t wait to watch every single episode.

Congratulations Sandro!
