The One Thing You Need to Know Before You Audition

As there is now less than four weeks till our applications close, we have created a helpful guide with tips from our Audition Panel about some final important audition tips for self-tapes and recalls. Here’s what they said when we asked them “What’s one thing you want the auditionees to know?”

“Show us you. Don’t try to second guess what you think we want to see, I can tell you what we want to see, we want to see you. So just show us you. It’s not a competition, it’s not about out acting somebody else, it’s about revealing yourself to us truthfully.”
Sara Houghton (Audition Panellist, Actor, OSD Graduate)

“There’s no ‘right or wrong’ when it comes to the auditions. Try and play and explore stuff, and don’t be afraid to do something that feels a bit vulnerable.”
Antonia Salib (Audition Panellist, Actor, OSD Graduate)

“I think what we’re really looking for is people who we are excited to work with (for three years, for one year, for six months depending on the course) but people who we see a passion in and we’re happy to go with them on a journey.”
Gabriel H. Zonana (Audition Panellist, OSD Movement Tutor)

“It’s also an exploration for you, of course it is for us, we’re getting to know you and see who you are, but it’s also for you. What is this school like? What are these people like? How do I feel performing in front of people? How do I feel doing an audition because that’s ultimately of course what an acting career is going to be full of. So just treat it like that, as an exploration for yourself and even hopefully a discovery for yourself. And once again try and enjoy it because it’s a really fun day and we love having you here as I said. We can’t wait to see you.”
Charlotte Pyke (Audition Panellist, Actor)
