The Oxford School of Drama 2018 One Year Course Graduates Cat White and Isabella Speaight are looking for funding to produce and star in Farewell She Goes, an 18th Century story exploring female friendship, race and women’s rights.

It is inspired by the true story of Dido Elizabeth Belle, an 18th Century mixed-race heiress. The idea came from Cat and Isabella’s love for this little-known story of a woman of colour who grew up in 18th Century aristocracy. Farewell She Goes tells the story of two young women who sneak away from their strict stately home existence to lay their pet canary to rest. Stood at the cusp of the ocean, it transpires that one of them is pregnant, and they contemplate what should be done.  Written by Claire Tailyour, directed by Sophie King and comprising an award winning all-female creative team and cast of rising stars, Farewell She Goes is a beautiful poetic story exploring female friendship, race and gender as well as abortion in the 18th Century and a woman’s right to choose.
