Claire has won an Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for her role as Queen Elizabeth II in Netflix’s royal epic The Crown. This was the second year running she had been nominated, but she lost out last year to Elisabeth Moss (The Handmaid’s Tale) who was hotly tipped to win again this year.
Claire not only beat Elisabeth Moss this time, but also Tatiana Maslany (Orphan Black), Sandra Oh (Killing Eve), Keri Russell (The Americans) and Evan Rachel Wood (Westworld). In her acceptance speech she said: “I just felt so proud of being in such extraordinary company”
