Emily Steel’s play 19 Weeks is shortlisted for the BBC’s Audio Drama Awards and has its Canadian Premiere

Emily Steel’s 19 Weeks was a huge hit at the 2018 Adelaide Fringe Festival and went on to be nominated for 6 awards, winning two of them.  It is Emily’s own story of having a termination when her baby was diagnosed with Downs Syndrome.

The play has been described as ‘sad and funny, familiar and surprising, complex and truthful.’

19 Weeks became a radio play produced by Helen Perry at BBC Cymru Wales for Radio 4 and has now just been shortlisted for Best Original Single Drama in the BBC’s 2019 Audio Drama Awards.  For the full shortlist, see here:

The play has its Canadian premiere in co-production between Northern Light Theatre and Azimuth Theatre in Edmonton, Alberta from March 29 – April 14, 2019
