Lee Rufford has been shortlisted for a prestigious BBC Audio Award for his performance as Smith in Radio 4’s adaptation of Alan Sillitoe’s The Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner. The production was aired in August 2016.
The awards were established to ‘celebrate the range, originality and cut-through quality of audio drama on air and online and give recognition to the creativity of actors, writers, producers, sound designers and others who work in this genre.’ The nominations are made by producers, directors and senior executives at the BBC. Lee has been nominated in the category of ‘Best Debut Performance’. The winners will be announced in January 2017.
