Statement

The Oxford School of Drama and all its staff stand firmly against racism in all forms.

We fully acknowledge that we need to do better as an institution and take clear steps to safeguard our community of students. This will demand scrutiny and a commitment to finding meaningful solutions.

We thank Chanelle Modi and Dipo Ola for coming forward about their experiences of racism at the OSD, this is something that we need to face, and it starts with this level of honesty. As a community we will come together and have meaningful conversations with the sole aim of bringing about this much needed change.

We are in the process of planning sessions with members of the student body, staff, our new principal and the trustees to discuss actions that will become our strategy for change. These sessions will be led by Babou Ceesay, a graduate and trustee of the OSD.

As an institution we will not tolerate racism.
